Subject: Worth the listen
Agreed with cookedw. This show is very interesting indeed and worth a listen for any fan of this band, especially if your first exposure to the biscuits was FT2K or later. The band w/o Marc for this short period of time did some very interesting things, some successful and some not so much.

Floes and 7/11 are both very good. In general, the earlier eras of biscuits (97-01 or so) played the composed parts of songs much slower and more patient. 7/11 is a great example, as is Floes. The Basis has a moment in the second jam that's pretty good, but overall it falls off quickly. The songs with Mauricio at the time were intriguing. Some people didn't like the "ticky tac" sounds of the 505, but it did add an interesting element to the mix.

But THE song of this night is the Story of the World. I still think this is the best version of this song over a decade later. Absolutely phenomenal build and peak, before coming back to the chilled-out original chorus.

I like to think I have a good ear for sources, and I do believe this is a Matrix. Sounds good and very clean nonetheless. Decent show, love that "Bring yo ass to the party". That always used to get me riled up!

Subject: A mixed bag that sounds great
The first show without Marc Brownstein is incredibly interesting. His loss forces the band to try new things, and I think a lot of them succeed. The Floes, Story, and 7-11 debuts are some of the best versions of these songs. The Eine Kleine Nachtmusik with John Kim really showcases how well the Biscuits can blend historical classical pieces with modern electronic improv. And the Svenghali with Mauricio on the 505 just may be the best version of this song. However, things aren't all a bed of roses. The Basis is one of the worst versions of this song (especially the 2nd jam>end), the Dribble is pretty weak, and Barber extends the Jigsaw jam a little too much with his repetitive bass riffs.

Soundwise, this is definitely one of the best recordings of the band I've ever heard. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the source info is, but I know Max transferred it.

All in all, if you've never heard a "Triscuits" show (the Biscuits were called this when they were a three-piece), this is definitely the one to get.
